Hello

Mission Statement

The mission of this parish is one and the same with that of the universal family of faith established by Jesus Christ. The Church has but one mission: to proclaim the Good News that the Father has reconciled all men to Himself in Jesus. There are three important dynamics to this mission to spread the Gospel: to teach Christ’s saving doctrine; to prepare our people and to sustain them for a full participation in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church; and to practice the charity of the Lord in good works and brotherly love [cf. CCC 2179]. By God’s grace, this is accomplished through sound preaching and formational instruction programs; through well planned liturgies and active faith; and through willingness as individuals and as groups to utilize our God-given gifts and goods for others.

Ours is a Catholic faith community so it should go without saying that we are one in the faith with Catholic believers throughout the world who look to Christ as our invisible head and Pope Francis his Vicar as the visible head of the Church.  (Is that Pope Francis in the attic of the church sacristy?)

We are always pleased when new faces come to Holy Family.  It is our hope that those who visit might want to stay and call this faith community their home. All are welcome at Holy Family!

The Sunday liturgy is the very heart of life here at Holy Family, the source and summit of all we do. Through our sacramental life, we celebrate the spiritual milestones of our lives. A comprehensive religious education program guides all of us – from toddlers to seniors – along our spiritual journey. We gather in prayer to praise and thank the Lord.  We assemble for service to show God’s love to others.  The Catholic religion finds its focal point in both a personal and communal faith relationship with Jesus Christ.  We respond to the gift of God’s Son by giving ourselves as gifts.

By participating actively, parishioners serve those in need, both here and in our community. Volunteers give their time and share their special gifts in a number of ministries. Our parish community welcomes your involvement.

Lastly, there are a variety of gatherings throughout the year which provide opportunities for socializing and good times. Again, we encourage you to join our family in faith as we gather together to celebrate with our fellow parishioners our faith in the Lord and in the promise of eternal life.

If you have any additional questions or would like more information, please refer to the Sunday Bulletin, the parish website (www.holyfamilywoodmore.org)  or come by the rectory or call 301-249-2266. We look forward to getting to know you better.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Joseph Jenkins, PASTOR
